Silhouette

Creating a Silhouette

I used the hairstyle I designed for my Victorian French Plete to create my silhouette because I felt the shape and structure of the hair would look great on camera.  However, I did add a ‘decaying’ effect to the overall hairstyle to make it look old and tatty.

I did this by creating the hairstyle so it looked great, then using the end of my comb to pull it apart.  Pulling random strands of hair made the hairstyle look as if someone had been sleeping in it for several weeks.  Although I wanted the hairstyle to look a bit messy and worn, I had to be careful not to pull too much of it out because it would just look like mess on camera.  This is why using the end of the comb was helpful.

I found it quite difficult to manage my time when creating this hairstyle.  I seemed to be quite slow at the start which meant I had to rush the delicate part of rolling the plete.  Next time I am going to write a guide of how long I should spend on each step of the hairstyle.

Overall I am really pleased with the outcome of my silhouette image and would definitely use this type of photography again.
